December 30, 2008Ten Bands that Made My Year in 2008
All in all, I'd say I've had a good year. Understatement! I've had a FREAKING SWEET year. I've enjoyed some great shows, heard some great music, even met some great people as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention I signed up for Buzznet, and it's definitely no secret that Buzznet has given me some amazing opportunities to fill my year of great shows, great music and great people. So with New Year's Day just around the corner, I reminisce over the ten bands that have been the good to me in 2008 and why. Read on...

December 19, 2008The END of SURS?
Every weeknight at 4PM EST for the past two or three years, punk/emo/indie/alternative/etc. rock kids across the nation have tuned in to FUSE for Steven's Untitled Rock Show where host (and avid rock music fan) Steven Smith dished some of the scoop on their favorite bands and favorite tours from the comfort of a lovely couch (and other times from the field on tour or at a show). Yet sadly, in an unexpected turn of events, after 701 episodes, SURS will not been renewed for a new season in 2009. That's right, the rock show is coming to an end. Read more...

December 15, 2008I've got troubled thoughts and self-esteem to match.I'm back to doing things for him at the drop of a hat. No it's stupid because even though I know what's happening I'm still letting it happen. I hate the pretty ones. He's not screwing with me on purpose. At least I don't think he is. I was telling Chels that I stick around for the challenge. He doesn't let me win and everything is at his convenience. It's fascinating to me that there's a boy that can control me. But I like to win! We're not dating. He wins. I know all of that crap. I'm not trying to date him. I just think our friendship is entirely superficial. I want something more real. More definite. One way or the other. It's this blurry line between really good friends and not friends at all. It's not like I don't know where we stand. We're friends in context of the band. I'm not trying to make it more than that. There are just some days where it seems like we're actually friends. I want it to be either a yes or a no and have it be that way all the time.

December 14, 2008The most introspective Facebook survey ever.
It didn't have to be that way, but that's how it ended up. I thought it was interesting enough to add here.
- Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a note with 16 random things, shortcomings, facts, habits or goals about you. - At the end choose 16 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. - You have to tag the person (PEOPLE) who tagged you. 1. In elementary school, I was a compulsive liar. (If you knew me back then, are you feeling paranoid yet? =P) I also use this one to fill the 'something not many people know about you' question, but I guess now it's pretty public. 2. I need constant and continuous reassurance. 3. I always feel guilty about my terrible punctuality, I just don't apologize because it'll happen again. So I figure, what's the point? 4. For a few days here and there, I wish I was taller. It bothers me a little when you make fun of my height. On some days it bothers me a lot. 5. I recently came to the conclusion that I think I'm one of the luckiest girls in the world. 6. I should be doing a Buzznet write-up right now. As a matter of fact, I should be doing a million Buzznet write-ups right now. Stupid laptop. 7. I've actually kind of stopped liking The Jonas Brothers, but I play it up because...well why not? 8. I honestly think they have what it takes to make it. I don't do it all just for shits and giggles. I get the feeling a lot of you may think it's just a hobby/phase for me, but I want to be in it for the long haul. 9. People say I'm going to miss high school. I highly doubt I will at all. I'll probably miss Sarge, but other than that, I'm ready to leave it all in my dust. 10. I hate the sound of my voice. I don't know why I still talk and sing so loudly. 11. The truth is, if I wasn't attracted to him I probably wouldn't have given a shit in the first place. Now I love everything that's happened because of it. 12. The All-American Rejects have been my favorite band for the longest. 13. I love the satisfaction of acting on impulse. 14. I'm afraid of what you think about my taste in music. 15. I like to win, but what 'winning' is depends on my own terms. 16. Wow, some of these things would probably make good PostSecrets.

December 2, 2008Want a Taste of Chaos?
With the anticipation of Winter in the air, this year's Fall tour season is wrapping up, but don't fret! There's a brand new batch of bands setting up to cross the country in the new year! The AP Tour and the Take Action! Tour lineups have been announced and are already exciting minds around here, but don't you think things need to get a little more hardcore? Never fear! Taste of Chaos is here!
In the past, RTOC has been dubbed as "Winter's Warped Tour" and featured artists on the verge that may sound a just a bit familiar. Bands that have boasted the rotating headline include My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Rise Against, Deftones, Killswitch Engage, 30 Seconds to Mars and The Used, so you can bet that this year's headliners will be big in 2009. Who will that be, you ask? Well, peep this: That's right boys and girls! Thursday, Bring Me The Horizon, Four Year Strong, and Pierce the Veil will be gracing the stage and rocking your face off. You can also look forward to Canadian boys Cancer Bats and a local Ernie Ball BOTB winner to warm up the crowd for them. Presale begins Friday, December 12 at 10AM local venue time. Tickets will go for about $20-$25, which is more than reasonable if you ask me. For dates and more info, visit http://tasteofchaos.com/. You can also reminisce over past RTOC dates right here on Buzznet! ![]() For those of you who plan on attending, who are you most stoked to see?
